Fat Fancy is a radical fat fashion boutique located in downtown Portland, Oregon. Our mission is to bring stylish, reasonably priced, vintage and modern plus size clothing to men, women, and those in between. Come visit our storefront on burgeoning SW Morrison street between 10th and 11th avenues! We are on the max line, near many fun boutiques, delicious restaurants and food carts! Be sure to check our hours because they are unique.
Fat Fancy’s very first sale was held out of our founder’s studio apartment. She cleared out her belongings, pushed in her murphy bed, and wheeled in clothing racks bursting with glamour. People came from far and wide to munch on snacks, shop, bop to soul music, and watch Hairspray! A wonderful time was had by all, and history was made!
From there, we began throwing monthly sales out of a friend’s basement in NE Portland. We did this for just under 2 years. During “the basement years”, we amassed a ton of support from the community, including Beth Ditto of the band, Gossip, and Leslie Hall of Leslie and the Lys. Fat Fancy has been featured in local, national, and international publications. We’ve been written up in The UK Guardian, Bust, Bitch, and Curve Magazines, The Oregonian, and even in the New York Times Style section! We were also featured on French TV with Beth Ditto as one of her favorite places to shop in Portland.
It has always been our dream to have a real storefront, and as of December of 2009, that dream has become reality! Yes, folks, it’s really real! Come down and see for yourself.
Love your body! Love yourself! Shop Fat Fancy!
